Scientific advice from our staff entomologist to help you protect your home.
Different ant, cockroach, and termite species require entirely different chemical solutions, baiting schedules, and environmental adjustments. Misidentifying a pest can lead to wasted treatments, recurring infestations, and unnecessary environmental exposure.
If attempting to capture a pest specimen, always prioritize safety. Use a clear glass jar or plastic container to scoop the insect. Never pick up stinging insects (like wasps or hornets) or biting pests (like spiders or rodents) with bare hands. Freezing the specimen for 24 hours is a safe way to preserve it without damage.
